Pricedrop and new Mario Kart Wii bundles hitting Australia June 2

Just like Europe and America, Wii Sports to be sold separate

Slowing sales of the Wii means it’s time for a price drop and now Australia gets its turn. From June 2 the Wii will be getting a new bundle and a new price point. For $199, down from $249 you’ll be able to pick between a Black or White Wii with a copy of Mario Kart Wii (and a matching Wii wheel).  Retailers such as JB Hi-Fi have already put the price of these new bundles lower at $188. The Wii in it’s current state had already been selling for around $199 for a while as retailers had slashed the price themselves.

Wii Sports is no longer to be included and will be sold separately for the low price of $29.95. We checked and other games such as WarioWare Smooth Moves, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and others that were marked for the ’Nintendo Selects’ budget line in other regions are not reappearing in stores systems and remain out of print. No budget line for Australia, yet, it seems.

So if the Wii successor is still a little too far away for your liking and you’re one of the few people in the world not to have a Wii, could be a good time to jump in.

Update: Nintendo Australia have confirmed the bundles on their website.
